Slovenia In A Week

 

Day 01, LJUBLJANA

Arrival to Ljubljana airport and a transfer to Ljubljana. This afternoon meet your Tour Director at the hotel followed by walking sightseeing tour of Ljubljana. Overnight in Ljubljana.

 

Day 02, CATEŽ (DOLENJSKA REGION)

Depart Ljubljana at noon and drive along the river Krka to Oto?ec, an island in the Krka river. Short stop in Otocec. Continue to Kostanjevica (visit the castle and gallery – Mondays closed). Continue to ?atež and enjoy Spa treatments before dinner at the hotel. Overnight in ?atež Spa. (B,D)

 

Day 03, OLIMLJE AND ROGAŠKA SLATINA

After breakfast drive North through Bizeljsko wine region. Wine tasting at one of the many wineries. In Olimlje visit one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe and in Rogatec the open-air heritage museum. Continue to Rogaška Slatina and enjoy Spa treatments before dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Rogaška Slatina. (B,D)

 

Day 04, JERUZALEM AND PTUJ

Drive to Središ?e ob Dravi and visit the shop and taste Pumpkin seed oil and roasted pumpkin seed. Then continue to Jeruzalem wine region for lunch. In the afternoon drive to Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia. Visit the well preserved town center and medieval castle. Dinner and overnight in Ptuj. (B,L)

 

Day 05, MARIBOR, LOGAR VALLEY AND BLED

Morning drive to Maribor, second largest city in Slovenia. On your sightseeing tour you will see the monumental Maribor Castle, the mighty Gothic Cathedral and the remarkable Franciscan church, built with red bricks, for which women received indulgences. In the oldest part, we explore the remains of the Jewish quarter and the city walls, the enchanting Lent embankment, with the Water and Judgement towers, and the oldest cultivated grapevine in the world. Then we continue to Logar Valley, a protected regional park, visit Rinka waterfalls and continue Lake Bled. Overnight in Bled. (B)

 

Day 06, SOCA VALLEY AND GORIŠKA BRDA WINE REGION

This morning enjoy sightseeing tour of Bled featuring the charming town with the lakeshore and imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. Today drive over Vrši? pass (1611 m) into Trenta and through which one of the most beautiful European rivers flow – emerald green So?a river. We drive through Kobarid where we stop to visit the WW1 museum and end our day with dinner accompanied by local wines in the wine district of Goriška Brda and overnight. (B,D)

 

Day 07, KARST REGION AND PIRAN

Morning walk through a typical karst village – Štanjel, continue to Lipica and visit the stud farm. Then stop at famous prosciutto farm Lokev and see how the prosciutto is prepared and taste it with regional wine – teran. Further to Škocjan to enter the wonder of the Karst underworld (UNESCO). Afternoon drive to the Slovenian coast, walk through picturesque Piran, a town with a strong Venetian imprint. Overnight in Piran. (B)

 

Day 08, PIRAN

Breakfast at the hotel. End of services. (B)
