Suggested itinerary:

Day 1, LJUBLJANA AIRPORT – BLED

Arrival at Ljubljana airport, pick up the car and travel to Bled. Overnight at your hotel.

 

Day 2, BLED – BOHINJ – BLED

Bled is well known for its small island in the middle of emerald glacial lake and it’s castle perched on the cliff above the lake. Take the typical boat named “pletna” and visit the small island with the baroque church and toll the bell. Then you can visit the Bled castle, enter to the museum or just enjoy a marvellous view of Bled and surroundings mountains.

Drive to second Slovenian glacial lake – Lake Bohinj, where you can enjoy a walk around the lake, visit the Sheppard’s museum, the Savica waterfall or take a cable car to Mt. Vogel. Return to Bled for overnight.

 

Day 3, BLED – KRANJSKA GORA – BOVEC – KOBARID – GORIŠKA BRDA

In the morning depart Bled and travel north to a famous Alpine resort Kranjska gora. Then continue your drive to the mountain pass Vršic (1611 m) where you can stop and admire numerous imposing mountains of the Julian Alps. Descend to Trenta valley and follows the river Soca one of the most beautiful and limpid rivers of the Europe. On your way stop in Kobarid and visit the FWW1 museum. Continue to Goriška Brda for overnight.

 

Day 4, GORIŠKA BRDA – LIPICA – PIRAN

Start your day with the wine region of Goriška Brda and enjoy the picturesque panorama of many small hills covered with vineyards and enjoy a typical meal accompanied with selected wines and visit the charming castle in Dobrovo. You can continue to Lipica stud where you can see the beautiful whit horses – the Lipizzaner. In the afternoon continue to a small and charming town of Piran for overnight.

 

Day 5, PIRAN – POSTOJNA – NOVO MESTO/DOLENJSKE SPA

Today travel inland to Postojna cave, one of the largest caves in the world, and take a small train and discover the magic of the subterranean world with its stalactites and stalagmites and interesting animal leaving in the cave the “human – fish” (proteus anguinus). If you have time you can also stop at Predjama castle only few minutes away from Postojna. Continue to via Ljubljana to Dolenjska region, to Novo Mesto and it’s Dolenjske Spa for overnight.

 

Day 6, DOLENJSKE SPA – OLIMJE – ROGAŠKA SLATINA

Today depart to vine region Bizeljsko, stop at Olimje. The Baroque church with the adjacent monastery leaves a big impression. The friary is inhabited and run by the friars of the Order of the Friars Minor Conventual (Minorites). Many visitors experience Olimje as a peaceful haven in the midst of the increasing rowdiness of our world. Those with an illness stop by the medicinal herbs to look for “the right flower”. Continue to world’s famous Rogaška Slatina, famous for its glasswork and Spa. Overnight.

 

Day 7, ROGAŠKA SLATINA – ROGATEC – PTUJ – MARIBOR

Drive to Maribor with stop in Rogatec, where you can visit open heritage museum. On the way you can visit Ptuj, the oldest Slovenian town. Visit the well preserved old town with its castle and also have the option to visit another wine cell – Ptujska klet, then continue to Maribor, second largest city in Slovenia and the capital city of Štajerska region. Your afternoon will be at disposal to visit the city; it’s castle, take a walk through the street or visit the promenade along the river Drava, called Lent. Štajerska region is known also for its wine and you will have the possibility to visit their wine cells situated in the undergrounds of Maribor. Overnight.

 

Day 8, MARIBOR – LJUBLJANA

Today drive to Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Upon arrival visit the most significant sights of the old city centre: the picturesque Central open-air Market and the Three Bridges, both designed by famous architect Joze Plecnik, Baroque Town Hall and Robba’s Fountain. Overnight in Ljubljana.

 

Day 9, DEPART LJUBLJANA

Drive to Ljubljana airport where you will drop off your car.
